Rural Women's Day - The gift of rural business with Boxed in the Bush

Happy International Rural Women’s Day

With COVID restricting so many events and further isolating rural communities, International Rural Women’s Day is an important date for us to take a moment to celebrate and shine a light on the success of rural women.

In celebration of Rural Women's Day, OAK Magazine would like to introduce you to some special rural friends from rural Victoria, NSW and Queensland.

Through these conversations, I hope that women living in rural areas see and hear themselves in these stories, and others recognise how incredibly hardworking, innovative and resilient women living in rural Australia are.

Let me introduce you to a rural friend of mine.

Meredith Nowlan from Boxed in the Bush

In 2020, Meredith Nowlan launched a subscription gift parcel business for women who enjoy the story under the wrapping. The quarterly subscription boxes are stocked lovingly with products from women-led businesses in rural and regional Australia.

Meredith had a lightbulb moment during a 3am breastfeeding marathon with her third child. Scrolling through the @buyfromthebush Instagram feed she wanted someone else to be the decision maker and pick out a box of goodies. She realised there was no reason why that someone couldn’t be her.

Meredith launched Boxed in the Bush during the height of COVID, and has recently collaborated on a special gift box for Rural Women’s Day.

Meredith shares with us her business journey and why she loves supporting other rural and regional businesses.

Meet my friend Meredith from Boxed In The Bush.
